Raul Hilberg

Raul Hilberg

(Vienna 1926 - Vermont 2007). He was Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Vermont, where he taught courses on international relations, American foreign policy and Holocaust history. This university created in his honor a Department of Holocaust Studies to commemorate the achievements and legacy of its research activity. Professor Hilberg was a member of the President's Commission on the Holocaust instituted by President Jimmy Carter and is a member of the American Society of International Law of the Jewish Studies Association. His books include "Perpetrators Victims Bystanders: The Jewish Catastrophe 1933-1945" (1992) and "The Politics of Memory: The Journey of a Holocaust Historian" (1996). He has also edited "Documents of Destruction: Germany and Jewry, 1933-1945" (1971) and co-edited "The Warsaw Diary of Adam Czerniakow: Prelude to Doom" (1979).
