Ricardo García Manrique is Professor of Philosophy of Law at the University of Barcelona. Since the beginning of his academic activity he has been interested in issues of theory and history of fundamental rights. During the last years he has paid special attention to social rights and has been publishing a series of short writings in magazines and collective books in which the ideas that are presented in this book in a more complete and orderly manner have been outlined. He is the author of The philosophy of human rights during the Franco regime (1996), Human rights and daily injustices (2004), The measurement of the human: bioethics and cinema trials (2011) and The value of legal security (2012).
