Roger Penrose is Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford. Author of The Emperor's New Mind (1991), a masterpiece of popular science which became a worldwide bestseller, is one of the leading specialists in the theory of general relativity and one of the most brilliant and original scientists today. In 1988 he obtained, by Stephen W. Hawking, the Wolf Prize in Physics. His latest works are The path of reality (2006) Cycles of Time (2010).
