Roland de Vaux (Paris 1903-Jerusalem, 1971), French archaeologist and historian. Dominican and doctor of theology, was director of the Jerusalem Bible school French (1945-1965), of the excavations at Tell al-Faran (1946-1960), Qirbet Qumran (1949-1958) and Jerusalem (1961-1963). As biblical scholar has works of great authority as the Old Testament Institutions (1960), published by this publisher. It is also the author of Archaeology and the Dead Sea Scrolls (1962) and Bible and East (1967).
