Rolando García

Rolando García (Azul, Buenos Aires, February 20, 1919 - November 15, 2012) was a leading Argentine scientist in the history of science in Argentina. He was a member of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities (CEIICH) of the U.N.A.M. and Researcher of the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico. Founding Vice President of CONICET.

He was the dean who transformed the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of the UBA between 1957 and 1966,2 placing it on a first international level and putting it at the service of the country's development.

He was one of the first researchers of global climate change, its impact on ecosystems and biomes, and its effects on food production systems. He developed, together with Jean Piaget, genetic epistemology. At the time of his death he was working on the methodological, theoretical and epistemological foundation of interdisciplinary research applied to complex systems.

In 2013 he was awarded post mortem the Konex Honor Prize.
