Rubén Bonifaz Nuño

Rubén Bonifaz Nuño was a writer born in Veracruz in 1923 and died in Mexico City in 2013. With respect to his academic training, he leaned towards Law and later obtained a doctorate in Classical Art and Culture. In the 60s, he began to dedicate himself to teaching, teaching Latin at the university. Throughout his career, his work was recognized on several occasions; among other awards, he received the National Prize for Literature and the Alfonso Reyes Prize, and participated in the Academy of Language for more than thirty years.
As a poet, it has been said of Nuño that his work seeks, in part, the restoration of the classical, placing himself in the inevitable present, through masterful writing, with a great mastery of technique and an unparalleled ability to choose words to express all kinds of feelings, always with the same effectiveness. In addition, the variety of his poetry is highly appreciated, contrasting it with the monotonous production of other writers.
Of his works, we can mention his poetry collections "Fuego de pobres" and "Del templo de su cuerpo", and his essay entitled "Arte de amar, Remedios de amor".
