Saki, known by the literary pseudonym Saki (December 18, 1870 - November 14 of 1916), was a writer, novelist and British playwright. His sharp and sometimes macabre stories recreated ironically the Victorian society and culture in which he lived. The name Saki is often associated with the butler on the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. But it can also refer to a South American primate long tail with the same name, central character in his story "The remoulding of Groby Lington" which, as the same writer, hides an ambiguous background under a decent appearance. This story is the only one of Saki that opens with a quote: "It is known a man by the company he keeps," and plays with the idea that man comes to resemble their own pets.
