Samanta Schweblin

Samanta Schweblin was born in Buenos Aires in 1978. Her first book, El core del disturbio (2002), won the National Fund of Arts and National Haroldo Conti awards. In 2008 he was awarded the Casa de las Américas prize for his book of stories Birds in the mouth (2009), translated into thirteen languages and published in more than twenty countries. In 2012 he won the French prize Juan Rulfo de cuento, and in 2014 published his first novel, Rescue Distance. He has obtained scholarships for writing residences in Mexico, Italy, China and Germany, and currently resides in Berlin, where he writes and teaches literary workshops in Spanish.
