Sergio de la Pava

Sergio de la Pava (New Jersey, 1971) is an American author. He is the son of Colombian immigrants and practices law in New York. His first novel, A Naked Singularity, was rejected by several American publishers. In 2008 he self-published it and, already in 2012, the University of Chicago Press published it to great sales and critical success. The novel received the 2012 Believer Magazine Award, won the 2013 PEN Award for Best First Novel, and was shortlisted for the UK's FOLIO Prize in 2014. Critics have compared it to Thomas Pynchon, David Foster Wallace and William Gaddis. . In addition to Una singularidad desnuda, he has published Personae (2011), a novel whose Spanish translation will be published by Penguin Random House Colombia.
