Silvio Waisbord is professor in the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University, USA. He graduated in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and PhD in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego. Among other books, his most recent texts are Reinventing Professionalism: Journalism and News in Global Perspective (Polity, 2013) and Media Sociology: A Reappraisal (Polity, 2014). He is editor of the journal International Journal of Press / Politics.
