Icelandic poet, novelist and freelance journalist. At the beginning of her career, she published poems and short stories for which she became well known in her country. In 1995, he received the Icelandic National Prize for Literature for his novel Hjartastaður. As a journalist, he has conducted numerous television interviews with important figures such as Nobel Prize winner Halldór Kiljan Laxness, singer Björk or writer and philosopher Iris Murdoch. As a writer, Sigurðardóttir focuses on cultural issues, such as literature and film, as well as political and environmental issues. She has been vice-president of the Icelandic Writers' Association and a member of the jury of the prestigious IMPAC Dublin Literary Prize and of the jury of the Gothenburg Film Festival. He regularly participates in literary festivals and conferences, and among the European newspapers in which he has written, are Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Liberation or Dagens Nyheter. Sigurðardóttir is fluent and literate in English, German, French, Swedish and Danish, and understands Norwegian. He has spent time in the United States and Japan, and in several European countries, such as Sweden, Ireland, England, France and Berlin. He currently divides his time between Strasbourg and Iceland.
