T. J. Demos is one of the leading researchers in the field of contemporary art and theory today. Professor in the Department of Art History and Visual Culture at the University of California at Santa Cruz, and founder and director of its Center for Creative Ecologies, he is the author of The Migrant Image: The Arte and Politics of Documentary during Global Crisis (2013) , a book for which he won the Frank Jewett Mather Award from the College Art Association in 2014, and Return to the Postcolony: Specters of Colonialism in Contemporary Art (2013). Curator of various exhibitions, in 2014 he organized the cycle «Espectros. A cinema of restlessness ».
