Tang Xianzu, by courtesy name Yireng, was born on September 24, 1550 in a family of lawyers in Linchuan, in the current province of Jiangxi. Its literary production is mostly lyrical. His theatrical works are collected in an edition that received the joint name of the four dreams of the Pavilion of Camelia of Jade of Linchuan.
