Ticio Escobar

Ticio Escobar. (Asunción, 1947). Self-taught, curator, professor and cultural promoter. He was president of the Association of Support for the Indigenous Communities of Paraguay, Director of Culture of Assumption and Minister of Culture of Paraguay during the government of Fernando Lugo. He published a score of books about theory of art and culture, among which stand out the myth of art and the myth of the people. Issues on popular art (1987), the beauty of others (1993), the curse of Nemur. Art, myth and ceremony of the Ishir Indians of the Gran Chaco Paraguayan (1999) and Imager and Intemperie (2015). He is founder of the Paraguayan Indigenous Art Museum, formed with the collections of him. He has received various distinctions, among which the Bartolomé prize of the houses stands out for the support of him to the indigenous causes of America. He is a director of the Visual Arts / Museum Museum of Asunción.
