Umberto Galimberti

Umberto Galimberti (Monza, May 2, 1942) is an Italian philosopher, sociologist, psychoanalyst, and academic, as well as a journalist for La Repubblica. After completing his classical high school studies in 1960, he enrolled in the Bachelor of Philosophy course at the Catholic University of Milan, graduating with Emanuele Severino in 1965, with a thesis entitled "The Philosophical Logic of Karl Jaspers". With a scholarship, won in 1963, he simultaneously attended the University of Basel until 1965, where he came into contact with the psychiatrist and philosopher Karl Jaspers, of whom he later became one of the leading Italian translators and disseminators.
