He is a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He has been a guest at various universities in the United States, Europe and Latin America teacher. He has been an advisor and consultant on cultural policy in institutions such as the Municipality of Lima and the Ministry of Culture in Peru. He currently runs a Master of Cultural Studies and a member of the board of Lima Park Service (SERPAR). Among his books are highlighted street speech: the strolling players and tensions of modernity in Peru (2001), Orality and power (2004) and Voices beyond the symbolic. Essays on Peruvian poetry (2013). In 2010, he won a Guggenheim Fellowship.
