William Johnston, born in Belfast, 1925. This Jesuit priest in Liverpool and studied at the National University of Ireland, then joined the Jesuit Order in 1951 and moved to Japan, where he has resided ever since. He holds a Ph.D. in theology mystical Sophia University, Tokyo, and has also carried out specific studies on Buddhism, actively participating in the dialogue between Zen Buddhism and Christianity.
