Xavier Bellés. PhD in Biology and CSIC research professor at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, a joint institute of the CSIC and the Pompeu Fabra University, of which he is currently director. Awarded the Prix Maurice et Therese Pic by the Société Entomologique de France, the Prize for Scientific Literature by the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca and the Prisma Casa de las Ciencias award from A Coruña, he has been named honorary member of the Spanish Society of Evolutionary Biology. He is a full member of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans and the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts and a corresponding member of the Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales and the Institut Menorquí d’Estudis.
