Zahra Ali

Zahra Ali is a French sociologist.

She works on issues of gender and racism in relation to Islam. Her work focuses particularly on Muslim feminism.

Zahra Ali is the daughter of Iraqi political refugees who arrived in France in the 1980s. At 15, she was active in a Muslim women's association in Rennes.

At the age of 18, in the context of opposition movements to the law on religious symbols in French public schools, in April 2004 she became involved in the single-sex feminist movement "Collectif Féministes pour l'égalité" created by activists of the “Collective A School for All” (CEPT). Zahra Ali is elected vice-president alongside Christine Delphy (president)
