This book wishes to pay tribute to the animal kingdom, from an often forgotten perspective, that of its spiritual dimension.

This dating book aims to highlight the spiritual and symbolic dimension of animals. This point of view in relation to the animal kingdom was the common and normative one to all spiritual tradition, although with important differences of perspective. The work wishes to illustrate these different visions in relation to the animal through explanations and phrases that come from different religious worlds and, thus, elucidate the reason for these contrasts, sometimes even divergent, going back to the source of these concepts, which is, ultimately instance, metaphysics.

This compilation also deals with the symbol, essential to understand the spiritual view that the ancients had on animals and the cosmos. For this reason, authors of the perennialist school of thought have been cited profusely because of the important contributions that this current has made to the idea of ​​symbol, as well as its crucial teaching to understand the different spiritual traditions in depth, something very precious for to establish real respect for the Other.

But this text also wants to be a tribute to our "relatives" - as Native Americans would say - with whom we share life and habitat, and with whom human beings have been so unjust. We want this compilation to show the splendor of many animals that were and are very dear to man, either for all the goods they have offered humanity with their existence or for how much they have inspired it with their beauty.
