For several decades the evidence that something works badly, very badly, in the current capitalist economies has not accumulated. The accumulation problems inherited from the seventies do not seem to have found any solution in the following decades. Neither the technological response (robotization, new production lines), nor the organizational response (outsourcing, outsourcing), nor the spatial one (the productive cycles of China and South Asia) have managed to raise profitability rates in a sustained and lasting way .

However, the crisis of historical capitalism is far from being reduced to its material base, including the ecological dimension. The depth of the current crisis, the "terminal" situation of capitalism, is redoubled by its cultural and social components. In the first instance, the inability of these same societies to self-analyze and understand the nature of their decline. But also, the automatisms of an insufficient political reaction, and ultimately useless, founded on the insistence on reformism that, within the framework of a State and a capitalism in crisis, is no longer viable.

In «Terminal Capitalism» we find one of the most forceful arguments, also more disturbing, of the civilizational crisis in which we are already completely immersed.
