Ceremony is the book of a great satirical narrator, but above all it is the gold nugget that shines within a Mexican literary tradition prone to melodrama Sitting in an armchair of the second row of the theater of Fine Arts during the presentation of the Ariel awards, The Ceremony narrator hopes: Gasolina, a film based on his first novel, has been adapted to the cinema and, after a rather moderate success, is nominated in a couple of categories. And although the final result of the film is not to the taste of its author - on the way history underwent changes, lost its essence and resulted in an inflated reissue to square with the film -, the nervous rewards for hearing his name continue. This starting point is the pretext for Daniel Espartaco Sánchez to weave a hilarious story in which bourgeois activism parades, the adventures of a writer with no greater pretention than drinking milk directly from the boat, the publishing world, the decadent health services in the country and, of course, Mexican cinema: things that, as a whole, are a problem that concerns us all.
