The appearance of the journal Scientometrics in 1979 saw the consolidation of a research group seeking to account for certain aspects of scientific and technological activity through the study of documents and publications in journals or records of patent applications. Since then, h an I gradually refining their methods and, through procedures such as the study of the quotes or use of keywords, we have obtained valuable comments on the isolation or integration of national scientific communities, the relationship between academic research and technological applications and the relationship between various fields of research. This book provides an overview of the current status of these studies, their methods and progress, and provides insight into possible ways of using the information in databases.
