Guy Debord has bequeathed us a hugely rich and combative thought. It is certainly difficult to find any thinker with Debord's ability to account for the movements of postwar capitalism and who has deposited so much energy in trying to overcome it. His lucid analyses of the nascent consumer society, the critique of everyday life, the breakdown of artistic avant-gardes and the Marxist critique of revolutionary movements come together articulating an original philosophy that challenges us to a revolutionary change that must transform life as a whole. The texts of this anthology seek to rescue Debord's best writings, from his youth to maturity, so that they can serve the reader as a true approximation to the whole of his thinking.
