The universe of liberalism is enormously extensive and varied. Both John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman, as well as Hayek and Popper, have declared themselves liberals. And despite the obvious differences between them, it makes sense that this is the case: all of them, to a greater or lesser extent, share a worldview in which the fundamental factor is freedom, a key vector when proposing a theory of Justice or a regulatory framework for the State. In general terms, liberalism is identified with an economic policy oriented towards the elimination of controls and trade barriers, and a flexible regulation of capital markets. This orientation is often wrongly understood as an animosity towards the State but, except in the most radical positions, the idea is rather to expand markets while designing a strong, small, efficient State at the service of citizens, instead of a flabby State, with a tendency to slide down the slope of budgetary metastasis and moral authoritarianism. Santiago Navajas, author of "That wasn't in my history of philosophy book", among others, in this stimulating essay, outlines the ten main reasons why liberalism seems a more than plausible option in the current times. His reflections find support in a very solid critical apparatus, but they do not suffer from the cryptic tone, for beginners, that is so frequent in works of this genre. On the contrary, it is a text that oozes humor and that is followed with the absorbing passion of a good novel.
