This book sheds light on an issue which has been arousing growing interest among scholars of Heidegger in recent years: the affinity between Heidegger's philosophy and Asian thought, particularly with regard to the issue of "Nothing". The book presents a wealth of material and testimony documenting the interest of the German thinker by Taoism and Zen Buddhism, and highlight the obvious connections between the two parties involved in this fruitful dialogue. Also included is a conversation about art that Heidegger had with the Japanese philosopher H. S. Hisamatsu and eyewitness account of Paul Shih-yi Hsiao.
