The Cherubim Pilgrim, considered the most important work of European mysticism of the time, is basically a collection of rhyming aphorisms imbued with a strange pantheism. His verses cover the great themes and subtle paradoxes of Christian mysticism from this perspective: eternity in time, dependence between God and man, God's unfathomable abyss, detachment or spiritual emptiness and poverty, for which Silesius He was inspired by works by authors such as Jakob Böhme, Meister Eckhart, Juan Taulero, Blois, and San Juan de la Cruz.
The beauty of his work has been admired by such important poets as Goethe and, later, Jorge Luis Borges. His influence extends to the work of Schopenhauer, Wittgenstein, Heidegger, and Cioran.
