The work Philosophy of Law, by Virgilio Ruiz Rodríguez, is novel in its structure and content. Although in The Principles of Philosophy René Descartes says that this is "the study of Wisdom", and such study begins "by the investigation of the first causes, that is, the principles", today there are few, but notable, those that use an ontological paradigm to deal with its fundamental principles in the field of law. In this select group, among whom are Alasdair MacIntyre, Ralph McInerny, Stephen Theron, John Finnis, Germain Grisez and Joseph Boyle, the work of Dr. Virgilio Ruiz can be included.
