What is the future of the humanities? In recent years, signs of disaffection with humanist culture have multiplied. In this gloomy context, the development of digital humanities seems to be a lifeline for disciplines that would otherwise be doomed to disappear. However, reinventing the humanities through the digital means facing three important challenges: its relationship with technology, its relationship with politics and, finally, with science itself. The digital humanities are widely criticized: for some they are a farce, for others an extraordinary threat.
