We live in times of vertigo, a time where speed is the measure of daily life and information is an important part of urban culture. Cities emerge as the main disseminators of culture and from there the global economy, communications, social and political life start. Manuel Castells has called this phenomenon the information society. The people who interact in it have a general and gender culture — behaviors attributed from birth, depending on the sexual organs — made up of traditional and modern values. Within this society —where material reality is increasingly mixed with virtual reality— there is another phenomenon, in which gender behaviors are reflected through communication, through stereotypes with which the historical subordination continues. woman has lived, characterized (at present) by sexual objectification and the social representation of her body in cyberspace. Through this essay, the author describes the psychological violence crystallized on Facebook, revealing the crack that makes it impossible for women to achieve autonomy and liberation from themselves.
