The poor results of the two federal PAN administrations have plunged Mexican democracy into a deep crisis. We researchers are shocked by the political direction the country is taking: a democracy without citizens, without media committed to society, a political class deaf to the voices of civil society… Although there is no longer any doubt that Mexico is a democracy, there is criticism of the quality of the democracy that is developing. This book presents a diagnosis of the crisis of Mexican democracy, shows how new technologies can serve to articulate civil society and, finally, presents cases in which some recent social movements have used technologies in innovative ways. Once again we can discover hope in the depths of Pandora's box.
