Detective Katayama of the Central Metropolitan Police Station travels with his sister Harumi to a small residential city outside of Tokyo. His goal is to know the new apartment of his colleague Ishidzu, a policeman who wants to marry Harumi.

Once in the small town they will see that its expansion is inevitable because the owners of the construction company intend to absorb the land that occupies a small traditional village adjoining. However, the owner of the land, a mysterious woman who lives in a mansion surrounded by cats, refuses to sell them.

When, days later, the woman appears savagely murdered along with several of her cats, the two detectives must solve the homicide. What at first seemed like a murder for economic reasons, soon begins to get complicated, because as the investigations progress, more corpses appear and everything points to the crimes being committed by Bakeneko, ghost cats capable of taking human form that are leading out his bloody revenge.

But from whom and why do the cats want revenge? Is it really about ghost cats or does everything have a rational explanation?
