The book is an excellent anthology of texts by artists (Carus, Friedrich, Overbeck), writers (Brentano, Kleist and the Schlegel brothers) and critics and theoreticians of German romanticism (Passavant, Görres). It is preceded by a study of an aesthetic and philosophical nature, and accompanied by the necessary notes and bibliography.
