The present and the future of the European Union are a source of concern, not only for citizens but also for political scientists, economists and qualified staff of the Community institutions. The outcome of the elections to the European Parliament in 2014 has raised concerns with the arrival of this key institution of populist, Eurosceptic or simply Europhobes. Two issues are crucial in generating this feeling of fear of the future: one, the crisis, the economy; the other has to do with the impression that the EU is not getting to be that a global player in international relations in which aims to become long.
