This book shows the complex vitality embodied by youth from the peripheries. His setting is the convulsed Rosario of recent times. But adding that the advance of violent economies exceeds a specific city to become a social functioning that tends to be dominant.
The chosen approach moves away from that segment of the publishing market called youth violence or crime. Here the kids are not subject to academic study or media issues. Some had frequent links to crime, others none. In each part of the book, intermittent alliances, provisional disagreements, dilemmas and questions arising in shared spaces with them are narrated.
The vital parts avoid a temptation: to affirm that now it is the young people who hold the keys to deal with the competing social forces. Rather than extolling the emergence of a new young subject, challenging contemporary problems arise that require elaboration without idealization or melancholy.
