These texts narrate his encounter with the westerns of Anthony Mann, that impelled to him to abandon the painting and to dedicate itself to the cinema; His fond memories of the link he established with Michelangelo Antonioni; His youthful fascination with the bleak pictures of Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth; His curiosity about the photographs of Peter Lindberg, Ozu's films or Yohji Yamamoto's designs, as well as the discovery of a new language of the dance movement of Pina Bausch that only 3D technology could capture.

These "impressions" (speeches he wrote for ceremonies and tributes, but also personal notes that remained unpublished) can be read as aesthetic drifts that transpire the poetic look that a filmmaker of such vast experience as Wenders has on art. With an amazing naturalness, he explores the specifics of each artist, and makes us see what is so moving in his works and his creative processes. But perhaps the strength of these texts lies in Wenders' unwavering confidence in art as a mechanism of penetration into reality, and especially in language as a device capable of revealing what remained silent in thoughts and images.
