Since the beginning of the First World War, publications on the subject abound. This volume, however, covers a facet that the vast majority hides. It is a document of the political struggles of the main exponents of the international Marxist left of that time: Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht and Franz Mehring. Most of the texts presented here appear in Spanish for the first time; the rest have been little disseminated before.
In the worst conditions, its authors actively intervened in the debates opened by the war in the workers' organizations, proposing a policy that would allow it to be put to an end quickly and to use the economic and political crisis created by it to awaken the masses. The aim was to hasten the fall of capitalist class domination in order to put into practice the power of the workers, who, as Rosa Luxemburg said, "if measured by their true stature, is called by history to tear down the thousand-year-old oak of social injustice and to move mountains".
