The study of obsession and interest of the writers of works of art, has caused curious volumes. Many authors, misuse of nineteenth-century positivism, build complex anthologies sorted by author or dedication. At the other extreme those anthologies of poems about museums or artists, specific tables or collections are located. A third way the account inquiries that focus more narrowly on technical details. In "Painting in the air" is not addressed to the obsession of the catalog, or want to participate in a championship erudition, but the characteristic is sought. And do not lose sight of the significant analytical efforts by distinguished critics as Wendy Steiner and WJT Mitchell who have been concerned about establishing an epistemology of the intersection between art and literature. Therefore the book deals with the theory and two of the most distinctive problems of the relationship between art and literature in modernity: the museum visit, its implications and meaning, since it is the most recurrently for many writers to express the artistic attraction, and crossing activities among writers who paint and painters who write and (re) present, or build his private collection.
