Sensory processing disorder is a condition in which it is difficult to receive and respond to information that comes through the senses.

Difficulty processing and organizing sensory information is commonly seen in developmental conditions such as autism and frequently in children diagnosed with ADHD.

These alterations in child development worry families, teachers and health professionals. Many of these children have sensory processing difficulties that sometimes make them feel different: There are children who find it very aggressive to be touched and others who do not notice the pain. Often times, they can seem very moved, and it is because they feel the movement with less intensity than we do. Or the other way around, they panic about the movement because they feel it so intense. Some are hypersensitive to things in their environment, common sounds can be painful or overwhelming, the light touch of a shirt can irritate the skin ... It can also manifest as being uncoordinated, crashing often ... etc.

This story has been made with the intention of helping children and their caregivers to understand sensory processing disorder and to understand what sensory integration consists of, essential for raising healthy children who know how to play and have good motor skills, learning and concentration.
