Post-political Rebels proposes to extend the distinction made by Eric Hobsbawm in his 1959 book Primitive Rebels, where he describes a series of responses to the emerging forms of mistreatment and oppression that occurred in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. Hobsbawm refers to them as "pre-political", since they did not take the form of political parties, unions or social movements defined as such, for example, the bandits, the urban mob and the mafia. The British historian argues that a large part of the world's population in the 19th century, and even at the beginning of the 20th century, reacted to the changes imposed by capitalism with these pre-political ways. The analyzes that make up this work propose defining this type of responses in the contemporary world as "post-political." This seeks to analyze the frustration, disillusionment and distancing that various segments of the population experience in the face of official policy, which has expanded in recent decades due to the lags of neoliberalism.
