This volume collects the material (documents, pamphlets, octavillas, chronicles) prepared by the Salary Committee for Domestic Work in New York, an autonomous feminist organization that, between 1973 and 1977, was mobilized to demand that the State pay domestic work . He never gathered more than 15 or 20 women but was part of a great international campaign and had the support of a broader circle of supporters. With the few resources available to pursue its objectives, the New York Committee had an important role in the feminist politics of the United States.

Contributed to developing awareness of the importance of domestic work in capitalist society; He collaborated in the formation of salary groups for domestic work in other areas of the country, especially in the northeast. He gave visibility to the salary campaign for domestic work in the media and in the streets and when, at the end of the seventies, the government and the media began to attack women receiving social subsidies, the Committee was He raised to defend them, organized a conference in 1976 and a demonstration against social cuts. Retrospectively, can we say that? Like the campaign he was part of? The New York Committee was an alternative to established feminism, and served to introduce the "domestic issue" in the political agenda, something that no collective had done before. This is one of the reasons why I decided to publish the materials created by the collective, which still persist, along with the informative pieces that the means published in their day to cover our activity. Another reasons is that in Europe and the United States there is a clear interest renewed by salary for domestic work, obviously stimulated by precariousness or even the disappearance of various forms of wage labor and for the growing reproductive crisis, which is forcing us to reconsider the home and neighborhood as battle and political recomposition fields.

Unfortunately, the material that is included in this book only represents a part of what we did. Part of my personal collection has been lost and I have not been able to locate all women
that participated in the collective. That is why this book could not be a collective work and the story that is told in it reflects above all my conception of what the committee meant and what he achieved. Even so, I hope that the description of our history and activities does not disagree too much from what other partners would have written and that, despite their limitations, this book is useful for the new generation of feminist that continues to face many of the problems that inspired the original salary campaign for domestic work.
