Determined to rethink the sense of being in all its radicality, Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) showed an early interest in the specificity of historical time, as had been highlighted by Dilthey. In this Heidegger finds a point of support for his critique of the transcendental conception of consciousness and an aid in developing the categories of factual life.
