This work raymond starts the trilogy entitled The Saga of Citeaux and composed of three rebel monks, the family managed to Christ and Incense burned. Under the name of "saga", the author expresses his intention to draw poetically the history of the early Cistercian Order that, walking the centuries, would receive the monastery of La Trappe Trappist name with which it meets the white monks. In Nordic literature, the saga is a genre equivalent to the epic of southern and western Europe. But the sagas often lack individual character: the hero in the saga is a collective, a family, a tribe, a people.
