Soft coverThe three short stories (White Nights, A Novel in Nine Letters, and The Prince's Dream) by the great Russian master of contemporary fiction, F. Dostoevsky, belong to his early period as a writer. The first two stories were written between 1847 and 1848, respectively, the period immediately before the novelist was sentenced to death in 1849. After his sentence was commuted a few hours before his execution, he served four years of hard labor in Omsk, Siberia, followed by five years in exile in Semipalatinsk. In his last year of exile, 1849, he wrote the third story included in this edition.
