La oscuridad, el silencio y la ausencia
This book is the result of more than a decade of encounters between scholars interested in thinking about shamanism as a tool for analysis, as well as reflecting on the role it has played in Mexican anthropology. There are at least two ideas shared by the authors gathered in this volume: the first is that shamanism is a problematic category that must be discussed, and perhaps discarded, but that offers elements to think strategically about the way in which different peoples configure their concepts about the world and the relationships between the beings that inhabit it; the second, the interest in highlighting the contemporaneity of shamanic practices. Thus, the work moves away from any essentializing argument that, by folklorizing and exoticizing, omits the meaning that these practices have in each community.
