Jan  Patocka

Jan Patocka Turnov born in 1907, died in Prague in 1977. From 1925 to 1931 he studied Slavic philology, Romance philology and philosophy at Charles University. In his formative years played an important role in studying abroad, first in Paris, where he met Husserl, who taught there his Cartesian Meditations, then in Germany, with support from the Humboldt Foundation in Berlin, then in Freiburg, invited by Husserl. There he studied under the direction of Professor Fink, and then was a student of Heidegger. Of his works are published in Spanish trials heretical: on the philosophy of history (1988) and Plato and Europe (1991). His books have been widely published in French, English and German.
