Helm Stierlin is a pioneer in the development of family therapy worldwide. Today Professor Emeritus, is a Doctor of Medicine and Philosophy, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. From 1974 until his retirement in 1991, he was medical director of Basic Psychoanalytic Research and Family Therapy at the University of Heidelberg. Ronald Grossarth-Maticek studied sociology, psychopathology, criminology and medicine at the universities of Heidelberg and Belgrade and his PhD in Sociology and Medical Sciences. Since 1990, he is director and professor at the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Psychology, Economics, and Health Policy of the European Centre for Peace and Development, which belongs to the University for Peace of the United Nations. In 2002, he was awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Belgrade for his merits in the development of psychosomatic and systemic epidemiology worldwide.
