We study the origin of philosophy and its development to become a science - or knowledge-nature itself, with its own method and conceptual rigor. It examines what constitutes philosophy as such, distinguishes and makes autonomous science in relation to other types of knowledge. Here the author examines the relationship between philosophy and special sciences and theology. The issue is of particular interest because of the enormous thrust and the discoveries made by the method of natural science. The author offers a balanced solution to scientism, which is an attempt to impose a particular method in part in the study of all reality.
