The aim of this work is to present the structure of political information and documentation referred to in Spain during the nineteenth century, ie-their motivations and consequences-policy decisions relating to archives and libraries, as well as the training of its professionals. This general purpose is diversified into the following sections: analysis of administrative and political structures of the century on the basis of prescriptive legislative development; Figure and importance of the protagonists of the documentary change in our nineteenth century, namely, the creation of the body of officials archivists, librarians and antiquarians; the field of educational institutions as coadyuvadoras the lofty mission of documentary institutions through legislative action; training of professionals in the document through the origin and evolution of the School of Diplomacy and access of such studies to the university; and final corollary, the impact that the above embodiments have been in the operation of the most important institutions documentary.
