The importance of digital media is perceived not only in the quantitative aspect (never before had so much information been available to the press, in all languages ​​and also of all ages) but also qualitative (the digital newspaper it has gone from being a facsimile of the printed version n constitute or communication medium with its own characteristics and distinct). For libraries, the digital newspaper presents a set of possibilities (accessibility, retrospective query #) that make it a source of information of great interest. The purpose of this work is to link both worlds and give an overview of the state of digital media from the perspective of documentation. First, the history, characteristics, evolution and current status of the digital press in the exciting and uncertain environment currently living are analyzed. Second, the main sources of information for easy access and retrieval of digital media are described, establishing a basic typology of information sources according to their function for the user, and to facilitate access to the headwaters of the press, searching for information, tracking information or content aggregation. Finally, the implications of the incorporation and use of digital media in libraries analyzed. Although the contents of the book are focused professional information and documentation, can also be useful for journalists and, in general, scholars and users of digital media.
